Costly Lawsuits

The court ruling declaring the LAPD to fall under RICO guidelines is ridiculous (Aug. 29)! All Angelenos need to realize one thing regarding the pending lawsuits against the city of Los Angeles. Who do they think is paying these multimillion-dollar judgments? The person who pays for these lawsuits is you. It is your tax dollars that are being wasted on criminals and attorneys, instead of being spent on after-school programs and other community programs.

Enough is enough. The only people who are going to profit from these lawsuits are disgraceful attorneys. Law-breaking citizens will forever be in a hate/hate relationship with the police. Yes, there have been a few bad apples in the ranks of the LAPD--every department has them. But don’t blame the other 99% of the officers who risk their lives every day to protect and serve even the biggest critics.
