UCI Routs Concordia in Soccer

Josh Spencer scored three goals Saturday as UC Irvine shut out Concordia, 7-0, in a nonconference men’s soccer game at UC Irvine.

Roger Davanger scored two goals and Brad Aspey had two assists for the Anteaters (1-0).

Ryan Hopkins had four saves for Concordia (2-3).

In the Indiana men’s soccer tournament:

UCLA 2, Indiana 1--UCLA did its best to erase the sting of a four-overtime loss to Indiana in last year’s NCAA men’s soccer final four by defeating the top-ranked Hoosiers in their tournament. UCLA (2-0), ranked third, had first-half goals from McKinley Tennyson Jr. and ScotThompson.

In the FILA Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer tournament:

CS Fullerton 3, Louisville 0--Danielle Turnquist, Monica Reade and Taryn Kupper each scored for the Titans (2-1).

UC Irvine 3, Toledo 0--Natalie Franklin scored two goals and Caroline Kabe had one for UC Irvine.

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Chapman 1, Cal State Monterey Bay 0--Heather Reynolds scored for Chapman (1-0) with eight minutes left.

In the Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball invitational:

CS Fullerton 3, Fordham 1--Megan Sabo had 23 kills and Jamie Ivers had 13 to help Fullerton win, 13-15, 15-7, 15-0, 15-7.

In the Concordia women’s volleyball tournament:

Concordia 3, U.S. International 1--Concordia’s Erin Shevlin had 15 kills and Nikki Beaudry had 14 digs to help the Eagles (4-1) to a 15-3, 15-6, 7-15, 15-3 victory. In an earlier match, Shevlin had 13 kills as the Eagles defeated Southwestern, 15-7, 15-1, 15-4.
