The city will unveil its third artist-designed bench at 6 p.m. Thursday near the gazebo at Heisler Park. Los Angeles-based artist George Stone won the third annual competition, which is sponsored by the Arts Commission.

The bench, called “Rock Pile Carve,” was chosen from 13 entries. Stone has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and the J. Paul Getty Trust. A reception will follow the unveiling at the Madison Square and Garden Cafe, 320 N. Coast Highway. For more information, call Sian Poeschl, city arts coordinator, at (949) 497-0722.
