The blue-white star Vega is almost exactly overhead at 8:20 tonight
(and four minutes earlier each succeeding night). Vega is the brightest star in the small constellation Lyra --the lyre, or harp--and the third-brightest star in the northern sky. It lies 25 light-years from Earth (150 trillion miles), and the light we see tonight left Vega in the summer of 1975--just after the end of the Vietnam War.
