The Boy Scouts Are Doing Good

* Re “Workout for Leisure Spots” (Sept. 5): Many thanks for running the photo of Boy Scouts doing what they do best: enjoying a family day and hamburgers with their relatives. By the way, parents of Boy Scouts pay taxes to support our public lands. Any citizen taxpayer should be able to use public lands.

Any boy who will honestly recite the Scout oath and obey the Scout law can become a Boy Scout, no matter what he looks like or how he prays to God or whether or not he is handicapped.

As a grandpa of a Cub Scout attending Scout functions, I have never heard a single word of discrimination against any outside group such as gays, lesbians, atheists or whatever.

The Boy Scouts are very positive in the effort to teach young boys patriotism, reverence, good personal health and appreciation of our natural environment. Long live the Boy Scouts of America. Thanks for the photo.
