Dell-Toshiba Deal

Dell Computer Corp., the No. 1 direct seller of personal computers, said it will buy as much as $5 billion worth of computer components from Toshiba America Electronics Components Inc. over the next three years, a move to ensure a steady supply of parts. Dell said it will buy liquid crystal display screens, memory chips and other parts from the Irvine-based unit of Japanese electronics giant Toshiba Corp. Shares of Round Rock, Texas-based Dell fell 56 cents to close at $38.31 on Nasdaq.
