North’s Kim to Visit South, Officials Say
Senior officials of South and North Korea worked out details today on a visit to South Korea by North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and other measures aimed at easing tension on the divided Korean peninsula. Kim Yong Sun, a visiting special envoy of the North Korean leader, and his South Korean counterpart, Lim Dong Won, were expected to issue a joint statement later today after their talks, officials said. They were trying to set dates for Kim Jong Il’s Seoul visit, a meeting of their defense ministers and more reunions of separated families.
