Inter-Religious Talks

* My congratulations and deepest appreciation to Cardinal Roger Mahony for his splendid commentary (“Partnership Is Still a Goal of the Catholic Church,” Sept. 10). We have made so much progress, especially in L.A. these past years, to the credit of Pope John Paul II. There is so much promise of deeper understanding and love among the religious communities of the world. It would be a tragic shame to turn our backs on the spirit of hope engendered by the church.

I commend the cardinal for his clarification of the issue as well as his determination to continue on the path of righteousness and understanding.
