* General Motors Corp. was accused by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of racial and sexual harassment at a Linden, N.J., plant. The suit against the world’s biggest auto maker alleges that GM violated the 1964 Civil Rights Act by tolerating a hostile workplace. The suit against Detroit-based GM seeks unspecified damages. A similar EEOC suit alleging widespread sex harassment by Mitsubishi Motors was settled for $34 million in 1998. General Motors declined to comment immediately on the suit.
