An Alleged Leader of Basque’s ETA Held

French police detained an alleged leader of the Basque separatist group ETA in the southwestern town of Bidart, investigators said. Spain’s Interior Ministry, which also reported the detention, said Ignacio Gracia Arregui is considered the leader of ETA’s military wing and allegedly ordered a failed 1995 assassination attempt targeting King Juan Carlos of Spain. Gracia Arregui, 45, was taken into custody while he was in France with his girlfriend, the Interior Ministry said.
