Suspicious Baggage Causes Flight Delay

From Times Wire Reports

Police questioned an Alaska Airlines passenger and delayed a Los Angeles-bound flight when baggage handlers detected a weapon or explosive in a checked bag, a Seattle-Tacoma International Airport spokesman said. A police bomb squad had cleared a 200-foot area to X-ray the bag with more sophisticated equipment. Baggage handlers decided to send the passenger’s three checked bags through a scanner, and one of the bags appeared to have a weapon or explosive inside, Parker said. The airline declined to say why the bags had been selected for scanning.
