Latino Group Begins Search for Director

Ventura County’s highest-profile Latino advocacy group has formally launched its search for a new executive director.

Oxnard-based El Concilio del Condado de Ventura is seeking to replace longtime director Francisco Dominguez, who stepped down June 30 as head of the nonprofit organization to pursue private business opportunities.

Hank Lacayo, president of the group’s board of directors, has been serving as interim director. But Lacayo said the time has come to step up the search for a permanent replacement.

The new director will supervise a staff of 24 and is expected to expand ongoing programs, such as efforts to prevent truancy, curb underage drinking and help immigrants obtain citizenship.

But Lacayo said the new director also will be expected to seek out new grants and other sources of money, and move the organization to stable financial ground.

Applicants may send resumes to Lacayo’s attention at El Concilio, 400 South B St., Oxnard, CA 93030. For more information call El Concilio at 486-9777.
