What’s happening the next few weeks:
* The All Stars of BET Comic View comedy concert, featuring D.L. Hughley, right, will be at Houston’s Arena Theatre, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. 7326 S.W. Freeway. (713) 988-1020.
* The Alley Theatre opens its 2000-2001 season with “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Oct. 6-Nov. 4, and “Closer” by Patrick Marber, Oct. 20-Nov. 19. Other highlights of the season include the world premiere of “Synergy” by Keith Reddin, Feb. 2-March 4; “The General From America,” a new play by Richard Nelson, May 18-June 17; and the world premiere of Horton Foote’s “The Carpetbagger’s Children,” June 1-July 1. * The Houston Ballet’s 2000-2001 season includes a revival of director Ben Stevenson’s “The Snow Maiden” today through Oct. 1, and Feb. 22-March 4, the premiere of his “Five Poems” along with a new production of “The Firebird,” choreographed by James Kudelka and designed by Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto.
