You saw the movie and you may be following the extortion case against her ex-husband and former boyfriend in Ventura County Superior Court.

Still haven’t gotten enough of legal investigator Erin Brockovich and her boss, lawyer and City Council candidate Ed Masry? The two are scheduled to sign autographs Friday of the Julia Roberts film “Erin Brockovich” from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blockbuster Video, 475 E. Avenida de Los Arboles.

The film has topped VHS and DVD sales and rental charts in recent weeks.

Brockovich and Masry helped residents in Hinkley, Calif., win a $333-million settlement from Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for alleged pollution of the community’s ground water--the biggest settlement in the country for a case that didn’t go to a jury. Brockovich’s unlikely role in the case inspired the movie, which has made her and Masry famous.

This spring, while the film was still in theaters, law enforcement officials arrested Brockovich’s ex-husband and ex-boyfriend and their attorney, accusing them of trying to extort about $300,000 from Brockovich by threatening to go to the tabloids with damaging accusations about her mothering skills and allegations that she once had an illicit relationship with Masry. The three men have been ordered to stand trial on extortion charges.
