We Should Elect Officials

* George Skelton’s “Quackenbush Aftermath Shows the System Works” (Sept. 14) is insightful. However, I cannot agree with his proposed reform of returning the insurance commissioner’s office to an appointive position. The problems with having an elected insurance commissioner are similar to having an elected treasurer or president, for that matter. If every elected official was appointed, who would appoint the appointer? We should have more elected representation, not less.
