The Children’s Hospital of Orange County will launch an interactive computer program today that links patients there with children from 75 other hospitals across the country and Canada.
The Starbright World is a private network designed specifically for hospitalized children and teenagers. Children can learn about illnesses, procedures and coping methods, and they can talk with others in chat rooms and on electronic bulletin boards. About 27,200 children from Canada and the United States have registered on the system.
The hospital will get six donated Starbright World computers for the Teen Room, the oncology intensive care unit and other hospital floors.
