Egypt (3-2) stunned Germany, 22-21, in a men’s preliminary match, handing the Germans their first loss in four matches.
Sweden 28, Spain 27--Sweden kept its perfect record alive when Andreas Larsson snapped a tie with 23 seconds left to give his team a victory over Spain. The Swedes, the world’s top-ranked men’s team, improved to 5-0. Spain fell to (3-2)
Russia 27, Yugoslavia 25--Russian (4-1) held off a determined Yugoslavia (3-2).
