Air Crew Thwarts Hijacking; 1 Fatality

The crew of a Chinese domestic airliner thwarted a hijacking attempt, and airport police in Jinan, about 235 miles south of Beijing, killed one of the suspected hijackers after the plane landed safely, state-run media reported. The plane’s captain and another unidentified crew member were injured in the incident on the Xinhua Airlines flight, the China News Service and the state-run China Central Television reported. All 143 passengers were unharmed.
