Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser and guitarist Tony McManus will perform Saturday evening in Northridge. Drawing on tradition and their technical prowess, the two musicians explore the rich range of Scottish music--from pipe tunes to song airs to reels. Fraser’s solo violin can be heard on the soundtracks of several major films, including “The Last of the Mohicans” and “Titanic.” The duo’s first recording together, “Return to Kintail,” is available on Culburnie Records.

Mozart

Ushering in the Easter season, the Pierce College Philharmonic Choir and the Premiere Chorale will perform Mozart’s requiem and other works Saturday in Woodland Hills.

Classical

The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra will perform two Haydn symphonies Sunday in Glendale. Under the direction of Canadian conductor Bernard Labadie, the ensemble will tackle Haydn’s Symphony No. 26 and Symphony No. 49, as well as Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater.” Fellow Canadians soprano Karina Gauvin and mezzo-soprano Catherine Robbin will join Labadie in the Pergolesi piece.

Contemporary Ballet

The State Street Ballet, a Santa Barbara-based troupe, will present “Not So Strictly Ballroom” Sunday in Northridge. The show captures the energy and verve of the swing era in a trio of ballets: “Eight by Benny Goodman,” set to original Goodman recordings of the 1930s-’40s; “B.A.N.D.,” set to hits by Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington; and “Salute to Sinatra,” set to Ol’ Blue Eyes’ classic recordings of “Come Dance With Me,” “That Old Black Magic” and others.
