Clayton P. Robinson; Retired Navy Technician

Clayton Paul Robinson, a retired electronics technician, died Sunday at a Ventura hospital following a long illness. He was 80.

Robinson, better known as Robbie, was born on May 3, 1920, in Parma, Idaho. When he was 12 he moved with his family to California and later graduated from Wilson High School in Long Beach.

During World War II, Robinson served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa and Italy. After the war, he worked for the Department of the Navy as an electronics technician at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard until he retired.

In 1967, he moved to Ojai from Bellflower. He also traveled extensively with his wife Bette after his retirement in 1976.

He enjoyed sports and walking in Matilija Canyon.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by daughter Celia Ann Demers of Kentucky; sons Steven of Carmel Valley and Casey of Ojai; sister Mary Smith of Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the fall at the Fountain Youth Spa in Niland, Calif., where Robinson and his wife spent the past 25 winters.
