From Times Wire Reports

A bomb exploded at a busy railway station in the southern Thai town of Hat Yai, killing a 7-year-old boy and injuring more than three dozen other people.

A second explosion went off in Betong, also in the south, injuring five people. It was unclear whether the explosions were related.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility, but police had been told to be on alert for violence by terrorist groups as the Thai Buddhist New Year begins this week, a police official said.
