ChromaVision Reports Higher 1st-Quarter Loss

Share

ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc., a San Juan Capistrano provider of automated cell imaging systems, reported that its first-quarter loss widened to $3.6 million, or 18 cents a share, from $3.2 million, or 16 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue climbed to $948,544 from $203,896.

The company attributed the higher loss mainly to continued expansion of the sales and marketing organization to support the automated cell imaging system, which can detect, count and classify cells of clinical interest based on color, size and shape to assist pathologists in making medical decisions. Research and development costs also drove up the loss, ChromaVision said.
