Milosevic Discharged From Hospital

Share

Slobodan Milosevic was back in prison Friday after a judge accepted a medical report that found the former Yugoslav president fit enough for continued detention.

Under police guard, a motorcade rushed Milosevic from a hospital back to Belgrade’s Central Prison, where he is being held during investigations of crimes he allegedly committed while in office.

Milosevic was admitted to the hospital late Wednesday after complaining of chest pains. Under constant guard, he underwent a series of medical tests for possible heart trouble, but apparently no serious ailment was detected apart from previously diagnosed high blood pressure.

Milosevic was detained April 1 and can be held for 30 days while authorities decide whether to prosecute him for abuse of power and corruption. The charges could also be expanded to examine other alleged crimes, including ordering political assassinations.
