From Times wire reports

A state Supreme Court justice said he should not be impeached for allegedly lying to a state Senate subcommittee about racial profiling that occurred during his term as New Jersey’s attorney general.

Senators last week sent a letter to the state Assembly asking representatives to consider articles of impeachment against Peter G. Verniero, saying he withheld information and made vague and misleading statements during his 1999 confirmation hearing. Verniero denied the allegations Monday in a 44-page response.
