Codi, 6-foot-11 Center, Signs with UC Irvine

Ryan Codi, a 6-foot-11 center at Prairie High in Vancouver, Wash., has signed to play for the basketball team at UC Irvine, the school announced Tuesday.

Codi averaged 18.2 points, 10.5 rebounds and five blocked shots last season. He is the fourth high school player and the first post player to sign with the Anteaters. The other three are guards: 6-3 Jeff Gloger (Capistrano Valley), 6-3 DeVaughn Peace (Torrance Bishop Montgomery) and 6-5 Ross Schraeder (Denver East).

Schraeder has indicated that he intends to redshirt next season and Codi might do the same. Irvine returns starting center Adam Parada and back-up Dave Korfman, as well as forwards Stanislav Zuzak and J.R. Christ, and redshirts Matt Okoro and Jordan Harris.
