White Flight
* Earl Ofari Hutchinson blames federal housing finance programs for promoting discrimination (“Blame the Feds for a House Divided,” Commentary, April 17). He strains at this gnat but swallows the camel of monopoly--public schools.
Parents will do just about anything for their children. Can we blame parents for moving out of minority neighborhoods, where the only good schools cost money, to the white suburbs, where good schools are free? Our tax system practically begs these parents to move.
I blame voters who are too satisfied with their free public schools to realize that every vote against vouchers is a vote for more segregation.
