Court Won’t Bar FBI Tape at Bomb Trial
The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday rejected an emergency petition to bar prosecutors from using an FBI surveillance tape against a white supremacist accused of killing four black girls in a 1963 church bombing.
Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who handles emergency motions involving Alabama cases, denied the petition by Thomas Blanton Jr.
Blanton, 62, whose murder trial began Monday, is accused of helping plant dynamite that exploded Sept. 15, 1963, at the 16th Street Baptist Church.
Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Addie Mae Collins, all age 14, and Denise McNair, 11, were killed.
