An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 hit the southeastern part of the state. Tremors were felt from Pocatello to Yellowstone and as far away as Salt Lake City.

No damage or injuries were immediately reported in the quake, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Centered 27 miles northwest of Afton, Wyo., the quake was the biggest to hit Idaho since a 5.8 temblor in 1994.
