Microsemi Corp.

The Irvine semiconductor company reported net income of $4.3 million, or 29 cents a share, for the second fiscal quarter ended April 1. Net income for the prior-year period totaled $194,000, or 2 cents a share, which included a charge of $2.5 million. Revenue increased 3% to $63.1 million.

The company said it expects third-quarter revenue of $60 million to $65 million, due to the closure of its lower-margin PPC unit and general market conditions. Sales in the third quarter last year totaled $66.6 million.
