‘I’ve had some really nice Pinots lately. I liked the ’98 Gary Farrell Pinot Noir from the Allen Vineyard. I think in some camps, the ’98 is considered a difficult vintage in Northern California--it wasn’t here on the Central Coast; it was one of the best. But what strikes me is that in a vintage that had some challenges in Pinot Noir, this is a wine that has incredible fruit concentration and balance.’
