Day Care Is Child Care

* Re “Day Care Isn’t Boot Camp for Bullies,” Commentary, April 24: There is no such thing as day care! Fortunately God, or the planetary cycle, takes care of the days (and nights).

Those of us in early education do provide child care. Also opportunities for early literacy, problem solving, music, art, social skills, cooperative play and more. Perhaps if the compensation was adequate in early childhood education there wouldn’t be so many children in poor-quality programs. And let’s stop pitting the stay-home parents against working ones. Every child deserves the best teachers, parent or professional.
