Hacker Admits to Third Crime While Out on Bail
A 20-year-old hacker pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court Wednesday to tapping into computers at Oregon State University and using stolen credit card numbers on the Internet while he was awaiting sentencing in another computer hacking case.
Jason Allen Diekman of Mission Viejo entered guilty pleas to one count of obtaining information from a protected computer and one count of wire fraud.
He was arrested in the second case in April while free on bail after pleading guilty to hacking into NASA computers and using stolen card numbers to purchase audio and other electronic equipment.
Diekman, who is now in custody, has also admitted a third hacking crime while he was free on bond. Assistant U.S. Atty. Arif Alikhan said he will plead guilty to breaking into a San Jose Internet service provider’s computer system and causing at least $50,000 in damage.
Diekman will be sentenced Oct. 15 by U.S. District Judge Dean D. Pregerson.
