Societal Benefits of ‘Community Seating’

Share

Wouldn’t it be great to go to a public place (restaurant, airport, concert, parade, etc.) and have the option of sitting alone or of sitting with others who want to get to know you?

People are disconnected in our society. If all the public places could have an area marked for “community seating,” then people would have permission to talk with each other, new friends would be made, and we would have created a better society for no cost but for a few signs.

Community seating could even create more business. Many singles are hesitant to go places because they are alone. This would encourage many people to socialize even if they come to a place alone.

In a restaurant, for example, community seating would actually create more seating space at individual tables, since single people would not take up a whole table. More single people would eat out if they could go to a restaurant that offered community seating.

More theater and concert tickets would be sold for the same reason. This is a win-win situation--more happiness, more friends, more business and all at virtually no cost but for a sign in the window or in a corner.

Let’s get the word out and help create a better world--a more user-friendly world.
