Pacific Sunwear Shares Fall on Analyst Forecast
Shares of Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. fell more than 10% after a Robertson Stephens analyst said she expects second-quarter earnings at the low end of estimates by the Anaheim teen-clothing retailer.
Analyst Janet Joseph Kloppenburg wrote in a report that she expects second-quarter earnings per share at the bottom end of the 13 cents to 17 cents forecast by the company.
Pacific Sunwear has seen sluggish sales of men’s clothing and weaker-than-expected sales of girl’s apparel, Kloppenburg wrote.
The stock, which traded as high as $25.68 in July, closed at $16.34, off $1.90, in Nasdaq trading.
The company also said July 11 that it expected quarterly earnings to fall at the low end of its earlier estimates because of weak sales of summer clothing.
