The Spice Hunter has added two sea salts to its line of seasonings. The salts are hand-harvested from clay beds along the Brittany coast of France which give them their flavor and color. The coarse-style salt is great for sprinkling or adding texture to a dish. It also can be used in salt mills, for roasting and grinding. The fine crystals can be used in any recipe calling for salt and for sprinkling.

French Atlantic sea salt, 7.5-ounce bottle coarse crystals and 8.2-ounce bottle fine crystals, $3.99 each from Albertson’s, Bristol Farms, Gelson’s, Hughes, Ralphs, Vons and Wild Oats stores, or call The Spice Hunter, (800) 444-3061.

Pretty Plates

This Portuguese hand-painted pottery comes in two color combinations. One is predominantly blue with orange, the other yellow and orange with blue accents. Both are stunning. No matter which pieces you choose, you’ll want to display them in a prominent place when you’re not using them.
