Unhealthy Negotiations

Re “Bill Would Give Doctors New Negotiating Power,” Aug. 4: I always thought that the role of an insurance company is to bear the financial risk. Now I see that for-profit health insurance companies have managed to shift the financial risk of health care to doctors’ medical groups. If the group has too many patients who actually need care, it goes bankrupt.

Is this really how we want our health care to be managed?
