Phone Sex Line Listed Under Poison Control

An old telephone number listed in a new directory is causing problems for poison victims in Santa Barbara.
Instead of receiving medical advice from the poison control hotline, callers hear a seductive voice offering phone sex services for $1.99 a minute.
And it may have been that way for four years.
The outdated number is listed in the 2000 Verizon phone book that serves southern Santa Barbara County. People thumbing through the book have found the number next to a poison control heading underneath the listing for Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Two separate numbers at the beginning of the phone book with other emergency numbers are correct.
