Author Archer Appeals His Perjury Conviction
Imprisoned novelist and politician Jeffrey Archer has filed an appeal against his conviction for perjury and perverting the course of justice, British court officials said.
The papers were submitted to the Court of Appeal a day before the 28-day deadline expired, the Lord Chancellor’s Department said.
Archer, a former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, was found guilty last month of asking a friend to lie for him when he sued a tabloid newspaper that reported he had hired a prostitute. He was sentenced to four years.
