Other economic reports due this week:
* Thursday, the Fed will release the minutes of the June 27 meeting of the Open Market Committee, when central bankers last cut interest rates. They may provide a glimpse of the views of Fed policymakers that will guide their actions this week and later in the year.
* Friday, the Commerce Department will report its July data on new-home sales. June sales at 922,000 were the fastest in three months, and this year builders are on a pace to sell 930,000 new homes in 2001.
* Friday, the Commerce Department will report on durable goods orders taken during July. They dropped 2% in June.
