70-Acre Shopping Center Planned for Palm Desert

Malcolm Riley & Associates of Los Angeles and Carver Cos. of Indian Wells plan to build a “power” center called Desert Gateway Shopping Center in Palm Desert.
The 70-acre center, estimated to cost as much as $100 million, will include a Wal-Mart, a Sam’s Club and 350,000 square feet of retail stores and restaurants, said Malcolm Riley, president of Malcolm Riley & Associates.
The project will be designed by MCG Architects of Pasadena. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2002 and be completed in the spring of 2003.
