A Santa Clara County jury awarded $945,000 to a lesbian police officer fired after she was hesitant to strip-search women as part of her duties.
Dawn Goodman, a former San Jose officer, complained in 1995 about her discomfort with strip-searches of female arrestees. She was reprimanded and subsequently fired after contacting a fair employment agency and suing police.
