Ford Motor Co.’s Britain-based Land Rover unit said it will spend $3.6 billion over five years to develop and introduce five models.

The new models are part of a plan to increase sales to 275,000 vehicles annually by 2006 from 170,000 now.

In a separate move, Ford will eliminate a three-person office that helped look for ways to market vehicles to women, as the second-largest auto maker restructures its North American business to reduce costs.
