Gemstar to License Software to Matsushita

Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc., the largest maker of software for television program guides, said it will license its software to Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Japan’s largest consumer electronics maker.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed. Gemstar and Matsushita, which makes Panasonic products, will sell a high-definition TV with Gemstar software in Japan, the companies said. The product will be available next week.

Shares of Gemstar fell 65 cents to $25.49 on Nasdaq.
