Travis Reed scored 14 points and Ron Johnson had 12 for Long Beach, which is 0-4 on the road.

Stanford (4-1) improved 36-1 at home against nonconference opponents in the last six seasons.

The Cardinal won its 21st in a row against a Big West opponent, dating to the 1977-78 season.

After the 49ers pulled within 47-46 early in the second half, Stanford scored 10 consecutive points for a 57-46 lead with 16:38 left.

Borchardt, who has four double-doubles in five games, made one of his three blocks to set up an easy basket for Justin Davis for the final two points of the run.

The Cardinal, which made seven of its first eight shots of the second half, maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
