From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The trial of accused Yosemite killer Cary Stayner probably will be shifted to San Jose, but a judge won’t make his final decision on the move until a Jan. 22 hearing.

Judge Thomas Hastings eliminated Los Angeles from the running, leaving San Jose and Sacramento as possible sites, although he said Sacramento authorities have indicated a reluctance to hold the trial.

Stayner is accused of killing Carole Sund; her 15-year-old daughter, Juli; and family friend Silvina Pelosso, 16, in February 1999.
