Political Dodge

After reading about Gov. Gray Davis being “neutral” in the race for Rep. Gary Condit’s congressional seat (“Davis Declines to Endorse Condit’s Reelection Bid,” Dec. 15), I found it hard not to roll my eyes. I laugh at the political mentality these days. No one wants to have anything to do with you once you get involved in a scandal of any sort. It really makes you wonder; with this way of life, do politicians even have friends?
As an everyday high-schooler, I don’t believe politicians are setting a very good example. Shouldn’t we tell the truth, rather than change its form to get around things? I had always believed that politicians were chosen to be our leaders because they were best fit for the job. I don’t know what to think anymore.
