Re “Kate Smith, Move Over: Here’s Erin,” Dec. 25: All cuteness aside, I fail to see how a toddler can understand and thus emote with any true empathy while singing “God Bless America”--or has patriotism been recently reduced to the mentality of a 2-year-old?
