Quetta police have conducted the nation’s largest seizure of arms and ammunition, which were allegedly smuggled from Afghanistan, officials said Saturday.

The weapons, found buried on the outskirts of town Friday, could have been used for terrorist attacks, Police Chief Shoaib Suddle said. Two suspects have been detained.

Suddle said police recovered 124 submachine guns, 248 rifles, 342 mortar shells, rockets and almost 30,000 rounds of ammunition.
