Another corporate suit going on the air to flog a product? Beneath the bad toupee and wire-rimmed glasses in this case is Beastie Boy Mike D.--in his role as Michael Diamond, chief executive of Grand Royal Records--touting the label’s band At the Drive-In. The ad, spoofing TV spots featuring corporation chiefs, can be found on the company’s Web site, https://www.grandroyal.com. . . .

Singer-songwriter Sam Phillips has signed with Nonesuch Records, following such acts as Emmylou Harris and Duncan Sheik to the Atlantic-distributed label, historically known more for classical and world music releases as well as the Buena Vista Social Club. Phillips’ “Fan Dance,” her first new album in five years, is due in the spring. Produced by her husband, T Bone Burnett, it features contributions by Gillian Welch, Van Dyke Parks and Marc Ribot. . . .

Rounder Records has signed deals with the Cowboy Junkies and former Grant Lee Buffalo leader Grant Lee Phillips. The former’s “Open” is due in May, while Phillips is working on an album planned for a summer release on Rounder’s Zoe Records imprint. . . .

DJ John Digweed will preview the Feb. 24 release of an album drawn from an October set he spun at the Mayan Theatre by returning to that site Feb. 21. The album will be the 19th in the “Global Underground” DJ series. . . .

The first commercially available mix CD from turntablist Mixmaster Mike, a subject of the Sundance-showcased documentary “Scratch,” is due from Moonshine Music in June. He’s also been hired to score “Jails, Hospitals & Hip-Hop,” a film version of writer-actor Danny Hoch’s solo shows. The film will premiere in the spring.
