Aliso Viejo-Based NowDocs Cuts Staff

NowDocs Inc. said Wednesday it has laid off 35 employees, including 10 at its Aliso Viejo headquarters, as part of a company restructuring plan.

The company, which downloads documents from the Internet and provides same-day delivery to customers, said it took the action because of a deteriorating business climate.

As part of the corporate overhaul, NowDocs shuttered offices in Boston, Dallas and Toronto and merged its sales and marketing departments. The company now has 160 employees and 10 offices, including Los Angeles and London.

Most of the terminated workers held administrative positions. No further layoffs are expected, said Bennett Hirsch, senior vice president of marketing and sales.

The privately held company does not disclose its financial results.
